When Travis Berg joined the Epic Multimedia team in 2013 as a video producer, he was simply looking for a change in scenery and to step away from videography in the news realm.
“The partners had a lot of energy, and I was excited to jump on board,” Travis said.
Little did he know, he’d be with Epicosity for a decade (and counting) through a company rebrand, many shifts in focus in the marketing world, and becoming the head of the video department.
At the time, the only marketing experience Travis had was a mock commercial he’d made in his own garage with his tools and Queen’s We Will Rock You.
Since then, his career has evolved from simply executing scripts to full integration and collaboration with a video team, creative directors, talent, clients and more. To this day, his favorite part of the role is meeting so many people from so many backgrounds.
Let’s take a look at Travis’ tenth year at Epicosity. To celebrate, Epicosity offered him a reward up to $5,000 value, five additional paid days off and support for a charity of his choice.
As a thank you for his time with Epicosity so far, Travis was able to choose a charity for the company to donate to. The Oaklyn Foundation is a non-profit that offers aid for families who have suffered infant loss.
“Our daughter, Jude, was born in April 2016,” Travis explained. “She was stillborn. This has been just a tremendous outlet for my wife because she gets to share Jude's story, and she gets to talk to other moms.”
The support of the Oaklyn Foundation helps so many people like Travis and his family. Travis offers his help where he can with his talents in video production, and Epicosity donated a testimonial video and a collection of dragonflies for the event.
When Travis’ 10-year anniversary was approaching, the Epicosity team knew that he deserved a vacation.
“They just knew me. If they were to give me a gift card, I would just do something logical with it,” explained Travis. “They said this is a moment for your family — a moment for you.”
With that, they booked a trip to California, where they went to Disneyland and Universal Studios. According to Travis, the trip was well-loved and much needed by his family.
As he reflects on the trip, Travis recalls seeing a side of his family he doesn’t always get to see.
“My grandpa used to say when you take a vacation, it's like relearning your family all over again,” Travis said. “I saw so much of their personalities just shoot out from them.”
To this day, his family continues to call back to their trip and will continue to remember it fondly.
“It was just something for us to just kind of let us be ourselves for a little while,” he said. “It was nice to be on vacation, where we could just let our wonder flow.”
“At Epicosity, they understand that there are people behind the employees,” Travis said. “They recognize that you're gonna spend a lot of time here, but we wanna make sure that you spend a lot of time where it matters too.”
After 10 years with Epicosity, Travis is looking forward to what comes next and is grateful for the support he has received from the team over the last decade.
