Vice President of Finance Celebrates 10 Years at Epicosity
When Sarah Kolbeck was job searching in 2014, she was looking for opportunity. So when she found a job listing for Office Manager at Epicosity, she took the chance and became our 13th employee.
Leadership recognized the potential in Sarah quickly, and with her help, the company has grown and thrived. Sarah found her stride, going from Office Manager to Operations Director to Vice President of Finance. And in her time here, the company has nearly tripled in size with the financial infrastructure she has implemented.
According to the CEO, Eric Sivertsen, “Sarah has been instrumental in the success of Epicosity given her decade of service. She is multitalented and is kind of like a Swiss army knife for Epicosity. She serves at the executive level of the company, weighing in on the direction the company will take in the future.”

With her work at Epicosity, she has nurtured growth in company profits and infrastructure, driving in more employees, more business and more valuable ventures for the company. This includes many awards, new employees, new clients, useful systems and a path to continued success.
“I always try to have an open door for anyone that wants to come and talk to me and I always want to support anyone in what they're doing with the agency because I want Epicosity to grow,” said Sarah.
Let’s take a look at Sarah’s tenth year at Epicosity. To celebrate, Epicosity offered her a reward up to $5,000 value, five additional paid days off and support for a nonprofit of her choice.
Getting Involved in the Community
While Sarah’s daughter was young, she began figure skating, and from their time spent at the ice rink, she and her husband noticed the Sioux Falls Curling Club was looking to recruit curlers. After some consideration, they decided to form a team.
“We just fell in love with the sport,” Sarah explained.
For about a decade, Sarah and her husband Dan have been passionate curlers with the Sioux Falls Curling Club. So when the club reached out to Sarah, asking if she’d volunteer as their Treasurer on the board in 2019, she jumped all in.
Since then, she’s used her role as Treasurer to help the board set up for success, aiming to get as close to the house as possible — which for them is their very own curling facility. They are closer than ever before to reaching that goal.
With her decade of service, Epicosity helped out the club by hosting a Learn to Curl event to grow the sport of curling, bringing in the rest of the Epicosity team for a lesson.

Traveling Out of the Office
As part of a thank you for her service, Epicosity helped fund Sarah’s summer trip out to California. Her family hopped on a plane and headed out to drop off her daughter, Mikayla, for a 12-week service opportunity with the Student Conservation Association through AmeriCorps.
“In addition to being able to take our daughter out there for her summer in California and just send her off, we actually got a visit with my sister and her husband as well,” explained Sarah.
While there, they were able to hike, eat at Hell’s Kitchen, take a boat cruise around Tahoe and more.
“There were just so many cool little places to go and eat and to walk around,” she added, “all the different little bars and shops. It was a really cool experience, and I'm glad I went!”
